Frequently Asked Questions

The library offers many services and receives thousands of visitors each year. To aid in planning your visit to the library we’ve prepared a few frequently asked questions that help you better understand our services and operations.

  1. Where is the library located?

    The library is located across the street from Atglen Borough Hall at

  2. How do I get a library card?

    You can get a library card by visiting the library’s front desk and presenting valid identification showing proof of your current address and a photo ID.

  3. Will my library card work at the Atglen Public Library?

    As long as you have an active card issued by any of the member libraries in the Chester County Library System, your card will work at the Atglen Public Library. Moores Memorial Library in Christiana is in Lancaster County. Little Free Library 19330 is not a member of the Chester County Library System.

  4. Can I return materials from other libraries in Chester County to Atglen Public Library?

    Yes, materials checked out from other member libraries in Chester County Library System may be returned to Atglen Public Library. Also, Atglen Public Library’s materials may be returned to any member library in the Chester County Library System. There is an outdoor book drop for returns made after hours located by the main entrance. Please note that Moores Memorial Library in Christiana is in Lancaster County. The Little Free Library 19330 is not a member library in the Chester County Library System.

  5. How do I request items?

    There are four ways to request items:

    • Online using My Account
    • On your mobile device using the CCLS App
    • Call the library at 610-593-6848 during business hours
    • Visit the library and request items at the front desk
  6. How do I get a PIN number for my online account?

    There are two ways to get a PIN number:

    • You can request one online through the catalog.
    • You can stop by the library’s front desk.

    If you forget your PIN number, we can reset it for you. Please contact the library at 610-593-6848 or stop by the front desk.

  7. What kind of programs does the library offer?

    Atglen Public Library offers a variety of programs for all ages. Programs are scheduled on a seasonal basis. Please check the library’s calendar of events to browse current programs and to register.

  8. Does the library have computers for public use?

    Yes, the library has two desktop computers for public use. The computers are installed with MS Office, multiple internet browsers, with Internet content filtering software to protect our young patrons. To learn more, please visit our Computers and Internet page.

  9. Does the library offer WiFi?

    Yes, the library offers free, secure WiFi to guests inside the library.

  10. Does the library offer faxing, printing, photocopying or scanning?

    Yes, the library offers all four services:

    • Printing: 25 cents per page for black/white and 75 cents per page for color
    • Photocopying: 25 cents per page for black/white and 75 cents for color
    • Faxing: Domestic fax service is $1.00 per page.
    • Scanning: free of charge
  11. Does the library have private meeting rooms or quiet study rooms available for the public?

    Yes, the library has one meeting room that seats six. You can reserve it here. We also have a variety of seating in the library with access to an electrical outlet to charge your device

  12. Does the library accept book donations?

    No, we are not accepting book donations at this time. Thank you for thinking of us. Parkesburg Free Library, Moores Memorial Library, and Little Free Library 19330 may be accepting donations.

  13. Does the library carry tax forms?

    The library no longer carries state or federal tax forms. If you know the specific tax form you need, the library can print it out at a cost of 25 cents per page. Forms can also be accessed online through the IRS website. Library staff can help you access tax forms, but they cannot provide tax advice.

  14. Does the library offer exam proctoring?

    We have limited capability to proctor exams. Please feel free to reach out to us with your needs. We will try to accommodate you.

  15. How can I support the library?

    The best way to support the library is to use our services: borrow materials, attend programs, work or study in our light-filled space, or meet up with your friends. If you’d like to get more involved, there are several ways you can support the library.

    • Donate.
    • Volunteer by organizing fundraising events.
    • Join our Board of Trustees if there is a vacancy.
    • Advocate for us at the state, county and local levels.
